EN CAMBOYA, LLUEVEN DÓLARES - CAMBODIA. WHERE IT RAINS MONEY

"Lo sentimos, pero estos 20 dólares son falsos".

"Sorry, but this 20 dollar bill is fake."

We had been told that fake dollars are considered part of Cambodia's day to day economy. They are treated like real dollars and are passed to other people, when given the chance. One night, while walking along the streets of Phnom Penh, we didn't stumble upon a fake 20 dollar bill, but two 100 dollar bills. We later discovered that these bills are sold openly from shops to be used as offerings to buddha. Obviously, some people prefer to use them as "real" notes. If you go to Cambodia… You have been warned!

We got rid of those 20 bucks as soon as we could. We suppose that the person who received the note got rid of it as well, all in good time.
